End of the year, start of something new

So this year is wrapping up. Its a time to take a look back and reflect on what has happened. Is it strange to think about what has happened? Do you think that mistakes could have not been made? Do you reflect on everything that you once thought would be unstoppable?

There has been a crazy amount of things that have happened throughout the year. People change, thoughts change, and yet we are still here.

This was the year of the great battle of Microsoft and Sony. One console to rule them all, well more or less. So it begins of the mistakes that Microsoft made when it originally announced the Xbox One. Then all the back stepping that was made once Sony announced that they wouldn't do the same things...looking back at E3 this year. So both consoles have been released, and seems like PS4 is out on top, just barely. But honestly, I don't see how. Sony made a couple of goofs with regards to the PS4...oh you turn it on and you are automatically signed in as User1. Then you have to login to your account, nicely done. Then the whole system update needs to be looked at. From the first time that you turn it on, and go to System updates, nothing appears...but you load the store, then guess what system update...really Sony? Really?

On the other hand you have the Xbox One, which was one of the smoothest setups that I've experienced. You have an account? Login, then lets setup Kinect. Oh there is an update, we'll handle that and you are done. Less than 5 minutes and ready to go. Sony, I want my 15 minutes back...

It will be interesting to see what happens over the course of the next few years between Sony and Microsoft. But I don't think that gamers will be the one to lose...

Happy Holidays! Hope you have a safe one and a very pleasant new year.

Remember don't take anything for granted, nothing lasts forever, things change. People change...video games change.

The end of the end or the beginning of the beginning

It's weird how life works. Things happen, experiences are experienced. Life is very unpredictable. From all the people that enter your life, to everyone that you get to share past experiences, you never know what will happen. Friends come and go, which is really hard to grasp. People enter your life, make you look at things differently then poof...gone. Leaving you to question everything that you've done and the person you've become.

So with the news about Nokia and Microsoft, many people say that they couldn't have guessed this. Really? You do realize that Microsoft was paying Nokia something like 250 million every quarter to make phones for them? Well I have to say that it really isn't a surprise. It was a given. There are many articles about what it means for customers and people that are fans of Nokia. Well I have to say I think that only good things can happen because of this.

Why?

Well lets see, you have Microsoft...which now can create hardware that is optimized for their Operating System. Sounds similar does it? Cough...Apple...cough...Google and Motorola.

I hope that Microsoft keeps with the quality of devices that Nokia has built over the years. I do have to say that my 1020 is the best device that I've ever owned. The OS is slick, the Camera is amazing, everything about it is great.

Hopefully we can get some outstanding devices that include expandable memory...

Until next time.

PS4

A lot of press for the PS4. I have to say that I'm disappointed that there weren't more details released. Leave it to Sony to grab attention then lose it by the time the system is finalized. Really, let's announce something that isn't finalized, though there are many companies building something for it. Way to go...

Indie Game: The Movie

So it was late last night I found Indie Game: The Movie on Netflix. I decided to give it a chance. I have to say if you want to know how much blood sweat and tears goes into a video game, watch it. It was a great movie and actually really made me miss some of the things that I dealt with while working in that industry. It is amazing to sit back and watch how other people dealt with the hardships of the unexpected. If you have sometime check it out. It is worth it. Oh and by the way, after you watch it, go purchase the games that are featured. Give those guys another reason to continue on and hopefully make another hit.

Windows Mobile 7.8

It has been a week since I've downloaded Windows Mobile 7.8. I have to say that it is pretty awesome. It is exactly how it was described. I love the ability to change the size of the titles. It appears that they have made some speed up changes as well. All my apps load a little faster and animations seem to be a little more smoother. I am enjoying the Bing background wallpaper, pretty awesome to get the same Bing background on your phone everyday. I know this is one of the aspects of Windows Mobile 8, but happy that Microsoft made it available to Windows Mobile 7 users. If you haven't downloaded it, please do now.

3d printing cases

So Engadget posted this article which was something interesting. Number one, it is interesting to know that Nokia was into something new. But the biggest thing for me, is thinking about what else we can do with 3d-printing.

Think about how the phone case industry will forever be changed. Scary? Not really. I guess someone should let them know that they need to think about other things that users need. Oh well, see what happens...

PS4...

Funny how Sony always said that they would build a machine that would last 10 years. I guess it is more like 7 now, since it has been announced that they will give more information in May. I guess that PS3 that they keep releasing will be old news quick.

I think the biggest thing that I hope Sony works on is the stupid amount of time it takes to download updates. When I put in a disc I want to play, I don't want to wait 20 minutes to download an update. I wish there was a way that you could download updates in the background or make it similar to Xbox with the small updates (3 mb to 26 mb).

Updates

Been working on some social aspects for the site. Bare with me a few days to get everything up and running.

Hopefully we'll be getting more updates for all the fancy electronics that we have. Like Windows mobile 7.8...come on Nokia and Microsoft.

CES 2013

Hmm...got to say not liking what I'm seeing. Sure there are some new things that look promising, but honestly I was expecting more non-glasses 3D tvs. I don't care about resolution for Tv's, I have handheld devices that I would rather watch. I guess we'll have to wait till next year for the 4K tvs without the option to wear glasses to watch. Oh well. Hopefully something good will be shown over the next few days that will change my opinion.

Let's see what the rest of the show has for us.
